A contraction does not solve every problem

“Since the pelvic floor contracts during orgasm, does that count as doing Kegels?” This question is tempting because the answer seems to turn training into a reward. Unfortunately, the body is not that simple.

Orgasms are typically accompanied by rhythmic contractions of the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles, but the experience, intensity, and duration vary greatly from person to person. It's more like an impromptu dance; training requires you to consciously control the start, hold and complete relaxation, and adjust the practice volume to the goal.

If your main problem is a lack of strength and endurance, regular, correct pelvic floor muscle training may help. If your pelvic floor is already tight, sex is painful, or you have difficulty relaxing, pursuing more contractions may not be the answer. Some people need strengthening, some need to reduce tension, and some need to re-establish the coordination of breathing and pelvic floor.

Use three questions to determine the direction

The first two questions test control, and the third question reminds you of how your body responds. If the answer is unclear, it is better to consult a pelvic floor professional than to blindly add repetitions.

  • Can you lift it up gently without clenching your glutes or holding your breath?
  • Can you feel the muscles completely relaxing after contraction?
  • Do you feel comfortable after sex, or do you experience pain, urgency or persistent tightness?

Sexual function is not only determined by the pelvic floor

Desire, hormones, blood flow, nerves, medications, relationships, and psychological safety can all affect the sexual experience. Attributing all difficulties to "not having a strong pelvic floor" is both inaccurate and stressful. Persistent pain, bleeding, changes in erection or orgasm should be evaluated by appropriate medical personnel.

Where can Gen4 fit naturally?

If your goal is indeed to improve pelvic floor control, Gen4's feedback can help differentiate between contraction and relaxation, making training more repeatable; and the Quick Mode's gentle heat and vibration serve as a relaxation experience. It does not promise to change orgasms, nor is it a substitute for diagnosis and treatment of pain, hormonal or neurological problems.
